Recommended for: All staff

Aim: To enable the student to identify potential fire hazards and take the appropriate action should a fire occur. To also enable the student to safely extinguish a small fire.

Objectives: The students will be able to: 

• Identify potential hazards
• Implement the correct emergency procedure
• Select the appropriate extinguisher and operate it correctly

Course Content:

1. Introduction

2. Video Presentation

3. Lecture - subjects covered: 

• Extinguishers and fire blankets
• Basic First Aid (burns)
• Identifying potential fire hazards
• Emergency procedures
• When to fight a fire

4. Outdoor Practical Session: 

• Students extinguishing fires

Certification: A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded

Cost: Block Booking for up to 12 students £360 (£30 each) + VAT

Note: Due to the practical nature of this course we recommend that students wear flat shoes and slacks or jeans.
