TRAINING COURSES
Manual Handling Safety & General Awareness
Duration: Approx. 2 hours
Recommended for: Staff whose daily tasks involve an element of manual handling.
Introduction: “What manual handling do I do? I don’t lift any heavy objects”. Manual handling injuries account for over a third of all workplace injuries. However, all don’t occur in the traditional “high risk” environments: construction, engineering etc. Manual handling is a real risk in all working environments. Loads may not be as heavy but if lifted incorrectly may still cause damage to the body.
This training will provide awareness of the risks created by poor manual handling technique, how poor workstation environment set up can contribute, and the safe techniques and set ups that can reduce these risks.
Aim: To provide awareness to staff in perceived “low risk” environments of manual handling risks and simple measures to reduce these risks.
Objectives: The student will be able to:
- Understand and recognise the hazards posed by lifting incorrectly.
