TRAINING COURSES
Workplace Manual Handling
Duration: Approx. 4 hours
Recommended for: The ‘Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992’ require that a ‘Manual Handling’ risk assessment be undertaken in the workplace and corrective procedures be implemented. Organisations, whose staff regularly lift, carry or move objects should complete this training.
Introduction: “What manual handling do I do? I don’t lift any heavy objects”. Manual handling injuries account for over a third of all workplace injuries. However, all don’t occur in the traditional “high risk” environments: construction, engineering etc. Manual handling is a real risk in all working environments. Loads may not be as heavy but if lifted incorrectly may still cause damage to the body.
Once individuals are trained in the dangers associated with Manual Handling, and what equipment is available for their use, the risk of accidents can be lowered. Back problems, hernias & strains and sprains all require time off work. With this training, the risk of handling accidents is lowered.
Aim: To provide awareness to staff in environments of significant manual handling risks and simple measures to reduce these risks.
